Entry of spectators prohibited in remaining matches of T20 cricket series

Entry of spectators in the Three-Nations T20 Cricket Series has been prohibited. According to Nepal Cricket Association (CAN), spectator entry has been prohibited in the remaining matches of the series. CAN Secretary Ashoknath Pyakurel shared that viewers are not allowed at Kirtipur-based Tribhuvan University Playground to watch the remaining matches from today.  Issuing a press release, CAN shared that with Monday's Cabinet decision of not allowing gathering of more than 25 people in public programme, the entry of spectators has been prohibited in the remaining matches of the T20 Cricket Series.  The CAN has apologized to the Nepali cricket supporters for the same. The spectators were given permission to watch the games paying fees before this. Nepal is taking on the Netherlands today under the series. Nepal had thrashed the Netherlands by nine wickets in the first game. Nepal is in a strong position in the competition. It is at the top of the three-nation series so far. It has four points winning the two games it played so far while the Netherlands are in the second position with two points after winning one game and losing one.  Malaysia is at the last position of the league after losing two matches. The game between Nepal and the Netherlands is slated for 1.15pm today.

Retired cricketer Khadka plans to indulge in cricket management

KATHMANDU, Aug 5: Former captain of the national cricket team Paras Khadka, who recently retired from international cricket, has expressed his interest in cricket management in the country.  He is preparing to open a cricket academy and plans to manage cricket through the upcoming elections to the Cricket Association of Nepal. "I have not distanced myself from cricket. My role has just changed. I was thinking about it two years ago and I thought now is the right time," he shared. He however said that he would help the national team in every possible way.  "Cricket has given me everything. Despite it, I took this decision as I thought it was the right time." The Nepali cricket has challenging days ahead to retain one-day cricket status, he said.  All-rounder Khadka made his debut in 2004 as a national team player. He made his appearances in many national and international cricket matches including 10 one-day international matches and 33 T20 international games.  He took the position of captain of the national cricket team in 2009 and quit it in 2019.  Nepal got One Day International status in cricket under his leadership.  Similarly, he led the cricket team to play the T20 World Cup in Bangladesh in 2014. A right-handed batsman, Khadka in his career has scored 315 runs in one-day series and 799 runs in T20. Also a bowler,  Khadka has taken nine wickets in 10 one-day matches and eight wickets in 33 T20 matches.
