PM Deuba defends CJ Rana in party meeting

KATHMANDU, October 27: Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba defended Chief Justice Cholendra Shumsher JBR in a parliamentary party meeting of  Nepali Congress (NC) held on Tuesday. While the party’s Vice President Bimalendra Nidi asked PM Deuba about the position of the party regarding the controversies of CJ Rana, Deuba maintained that CJ Rana is firm that he won’t resign and our party is not in favour of impeaching him. Similarly, Ram Chandra Poudel, senior leader of NC has also maintained that the party will not interfere in matters of the judiciary. However, NC leaders like Bimalendra Nidi, Prakash Man Singh and Shekar Koirala are against Chief Justice Rana. They have also sought CJ Rana’s resignation. The Nepal Bar Association and the Supreme Court Bar Association have demanded the resignation of CJ Rana and have warned of protests across the nation if he fails to do so. Meanwhile, CJ Rana has maintained that he will rather face parliament but won’t resign from his post.

PM Deuba to visit India on April 1

KATHMANDU, March 28: Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba is scheduled to visit India on April 1. Deuba will be staying in India for three days. According to the Indian Foreign Ministry, PM Deuba is scheduled to visit India on the invitation of his Indian counterpart, Narendra Modi. PM Deuba will be accompanied by high level diplomats and government officials including his spouse Arju Rana and Foreign Minister, Dr Narayan Khadka. After being elected as a Prime Minister of the country, Deuba is paying a visit to a foreign country for the first time. PM Deuba is scheduled to call on his Indian counterpart, Narendra Modi, vice-president of India along with Indian Foreign Minister and Chief of the Security Agency of India.
