KATHMANDU, May 29: President Bidya Devi Bhandari has expressed the hope that the 14th Republic Day would offer further inspiration to the entire Nepali people.
In a message of best wishes on the occasion of the Day today, the president offered her greetings for happiness, peace and prosperity to all Nepali sisters and brothers at home and abroad and asked the people to observe the Day wherein the people have won by adhering to the prohibitory order imposed by the government in a bid to prevent and control the second wave of COVID-19.
Likewise, Vice President Nanda Bahadur Pun has offered his best wishes to all Nepali people on the occasion. In a message of greetings on the occasion, he expressed his hope that political problems surfaced lately would be resolved.
He also appealed to the government, political parties and all other sides to join hands to prevent and control the infection.
Meanwhile, the Speaker of the dissolved House of Representatives (HoR) has spoken of the need to further strengthen the national unity for the institutional development of the federal democratic republic system in the country.
Speaker Sapkota asserted that the importance of the federal democratic republic was implemented in such a way that the public could feel the changes occurred in the state organs as stipulated in the Constitution of Nepal.
Sapkota wished that may the day would encourage us to move ahead as per the letter and spirit of the constitution and devotedly work for the national interest such as safeguarding the constitution and republic.
On the occasion, the Speaker extended condolences to those sacrificing their lives for the establishment of the republic and to those attaining martyrdom during the 19- day-long people’s movement which had culminated in the abolition of the monarchy in the country.
He also expressed his highest regard to the people who were injured, disappeared and remained physically challenged.
Republic Day is being observed on every 15th of Nepali month of Jestha) in commemoration of the day when Nepal was declared Federal Democratic Republic by the Constituent Assembly in 2008 A.D.
