MCC tabled in parliament

KATHMANDU, Feb 20: The government tabled the Millennium Corporate Challenge (MCC) in parliament on Sunday. Minister for Information, Communication and Technology, Gyanendra Karki on the behalf of the Finance Minister Janardan Sharma tabled the MCC. With this, the $500 million American grant will now require general majority of parliament for ratification. Nepal had signed the compact with the United States of America in 2017.

MCC officials arrive in Kathmandu

KATHMANDU, September 9: The officials of the Millennium Corporate  Challenge (MCC) of the United States of America, Fatema Z Sumar, vice-president and deputy vice president for Compact Operations Jonathan Brooks of the Department of Operations of the Millennium Corporate  Challenge (MCC) arrived in Kathmandu on Thursday morning . The officials are on their four-day visit to Nepal to discuss the MCC. MCC officials arrived in Nepal shortly after the MCC sent written answers to the queries that the government of Nepal had forwarded. The MCC has been awaiting rectification from parliament since 2017.
