Madhes Province: Aryal, Siddiqui win NA member election

JANAKPUR, Jan 26: Candidates of ruling coalition parties have won the election of the National Assembly member in Madhes Province.  Urmila Aryal of CPN (Maoist Center) towards women category and Mohammad Khalid Siddiqui of Janata Samajbadi Party towards other category got the victory in the election.   Siddiqui received a total vote weightage of 6,678 while Aryal acquired 6,156, said Assistant Election Officer, Bikas Basnet.  Out of 372 votes, 366 votes were cast in the election.

UML, DSP to contest NA elections jointly in Madhes Province

KATHMANDU, Jan 20: Opposition parties --- CPN-UML and Democratic Socialist Party (DSP)-- have agreed to form an alliance to contest the National Assembly (NA) jointly in Madhes Province.  As per the agreement reached between the parties on Thursday, the two parties will field Usman Ansari (CPN-UML) and Rupa Kumari Yadav (DSP) during the polls scheduled for January 26 elections.  Ram Avatar Yadav, provincial chair of UML and Jitendra Sonal, DSP’s provincial chairman signed in the agreement paper.  Ruling parties ---- Nepali Congress (NC), CPN (Maoist Center), CPN (Unified Socliast) and Janata Samajbadi Party (JSP), on the other hand, are contesting the elections jointly.

CHITWAN, June 22: Communist Party of Nepal (Maoist Centre) Chair Pushpa Kamal Dahal 'Prachanda' has said that the country would not be allowed to hit an accident.  He said so while addressing the condolence meet organised here to pay tribute to the late Hari Prasad Poudel, father of Maoist Centre leader Purna Kumari Subedi.   The former Prime Minister reiterated that the constitution would be brought on the right track, safeguarding the achievements of the struggles of the Nepali people's sacrifices, the Madhes movement and the People's Movement. On the occasion, he said Poudel had made a big contribution to the communist movement and paid condolences to him. Poudel died on June 16 at the age of 90.
