UML-JSP: Agree to share 16 seats each in Madesh Province

KATHMANDU, Oct 8: Of the 32 seats in the Madesh Province, the CPN-UML and the Janata Samjbadi Party (JSP) have agreed to share 16 seats each in the upcoming general elections, a UML leader told Ratopati. Ruling alliance, RPP defeat UML in Damak Municipality

KATHMANDU, May 20: Mayoral candidate of Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) Ram Thapa has been elected mayor of Damak Municipality, Jhapa. Jhapa is the home district of KP Sharma Oli, the chairperson of CPN-UML and the party was confident of winning there. But to Oli’s surprise, RRP has thrashed UML by 559 votes in the recently held local level polls. Thapa was elected mayor of Damak Municipality securing 17,525 votes while his nearest contender Gita Kumari Adhikari of CPN-UML garnered 16,966 votes. Likewise, Regina Bhattarai of Nepali Congress has been elected in the post of deputy mayor of the municipality with 17,072 votes. Her nearest contender was Ambika Prasad Khanal securing 16,574 votes. The ruling alliance and the RPP had forged an electoral alliance in Damak to defeat UML.

UML, RPP to forge electoral alliance in Bharatpur metropolis

KATHMANDU, April 25: The main opposition party, CPN-UML, and Rajendra Lingden-led Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP), have agreed to forge an electoral alliance in Bharatpur metropolis for the upcoming local level election. As per the agreement, the UML has decided to share seats in the metropolis with RPP that includes the post of deputy mayor, two posts of ward chairperson and a few posts of members. “An electoral alliance has been forged and RPP will get the post of deputy mayor and post of ward chairperson and members,” said Bikram Pandey, RPP leader. The UML has already decided to field the candidacy of Bijay Subedi for the post of mayor of the metropolis while the ruling alliance is fielding Renu Dahal, CPN (Maoist Center)’s leader, for the next term.

RPP Nepal to contest in local polls using UML’s election symbol

KATHMANDU, April 13: The main opposition party, CPN-UML, and the Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP), Nepal have agreed that the RPP Nepal will contest in local polls using UML’s election symbol. The two parties have also maintained that if those RPP leaders contesting using UML’s election symbol win the election, they will still be in the RPP Nepal. The two parties will also forge an election alliance in upcoming local elections scheduled on May 10. The meeting held between the two parties on Wednesday was attended by Chairman of RPP Nepal, Kamal Thapa and Vice-Chairman of UML, Vishnu Poudel and General Secretary Shankar Pokharel.
