Hearing of writ petition filed against constitutional appointments to begin from today

KATHMANDU, July 27: Hearing of writ petition filed against constitutional appointments is scheduled to begin from Wednesday. The writ petition was filed on November 16, 2020. A bench under the leadership of acting chief justice Dipak Kumar Karki including senior justice Hari Krishna Karki, Justice Bishwa Prasad Shrestha, Justice Ishwar Prasad Kathiwada and Dr Ananda Mohan Bhattarai has been formed to conduct the hearing. The then Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli had made various appointments in various constitutional bodies issuing an ordinance. Later, advocate Om Prakash Aryal and senior advocate Dinseh Tripathi filed a writ petition demanding to scrap the government’s decision at the apex court.
