According to the District COVID-19 Crisis Management Committee, Banke, the elderly from Kohalpur Municipality-14, who had tested positive for the virus on Sunday itself was placed in home isolation upon the request of his families.
KATHMANDU, Jan 23: KP Sharma Oli, chairman of the main opposition party, CPN-UML has tested positive for the novel coronavirus disease (COVID-19).
Oli had undergone Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) tests after experiencing symptoms similar to that of COVID-19 on Saturday.
“I have learned that Chairman Oli has contracted COVID-19,” Pradip Kumar Gwayali, deputy general secretary of the party told Ratopati. “The party might provide the detailed information shortly,” he added.
Chairman Oli is currently in home isolation at his residence in Balkot.
KATHMANDU, Jan 11: Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba has tested negative to coronavirus disease (COVID-19).
PMDeuba, who was in isolation after CPN (Maoist Centre) Chairperson, Pushpa Kamal Dahal tested positive underwent RT-PCR test on Monday. “The report today gave a negative result,” according to PM Deuba's Secretariat.
Dahal had tested positive for coronavirus on Saturday.
Similarly, Minister for Education, Science and Technology, Devendra Paudel, tested positive for coronavirus. His health is normal and is in home isolation, according to Paudel's Secretariat.
KATHMANDU, Jan 9: Minister for Communications and Information Technology Gyanendra Bahadur Karki is currently in home isolation after CPN (Maoist Centre) Chair Pushpa Kamal Dahal 'Prachanda' and leader Narayan Kaji Shrestha contracted COVID-19.
Minister Karki, also spokesperson for the government, had attended a meeting of the ruling alliance on Friday where both infected leaders were also present.
Minister Karki has maintained that he would return to his regular work and meetings only after his COVID-19 test results.
Similarly, Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba has been in isolation since Saturday.
Other Maoist Centre leaders Haribol Gajurel, Matrika Yadav, Dor Prasad Upadhyay, Ram Prasad Sapkota and Ramesh Malla have been tested positive for the infection.

1,534 recoveries and 20 deaths recorded in the same day
KATHMANDU, September 5: Of 7,971 COVID-19 tests conducted on Sunday in Nepal, 1,089 tests turned out positive, according to the latest data from the Ministry of Health and Population (MoHP).
Similarly, 20 people succumbed to COVID-19 while 1,534 recovered on the same day.
There are currently 31,248 active cases of COVID-19 across the country. Of them 29,081 are in home isolation, 2,167 in institutional isolation, 523 in ICUs and 162 on ventilators.
So far, as many as 10,838 people have died of COVID-19 in Nepal.
Likewise, of the 1,089 new cases of COVID-19 detected across the country, 453 were detected in the Kathmandu Valley alone. The health ministry recorded 288 new cases of COVID-19 in Kathmandu, 67 in Bhaktapur and 98 in Lalitpur districts.
KATHMANDU, July 29: The country reported 3,365 new cases of COVID-19 new cases of COVID-19 in the past 24 hours, according to the Ministry of Health and Population.
The new cases were confirmed from 9,555 RT-PCR tests and 4,687 Antigen tests conducted during the same period, the Ministry said in its routine virtual press conference here today.
Likewise, 1,373 COVID-19 patients recovered during the reference period, taking the recovery caseload to 650,445 till date. The recovery rate is 94.1 per cent.
Meanwhile, 16 people lost their lives to Coronavirus infection during the past 24 hours. With this, the number of people succumbing to the flu-like infection stands at 9,807.
There are altogether 30,390 active cases in the country. Among them, 27,355 were availing treatment in home-isolation and 3,035 in institutional isolation.
Similarly, 636 patients were in ICU facilities while 160 were in ventilator support, the Ministry said.
The number of people fully vaccinated against COVID-19 stands at 154,880. A total of 3,650,733 people have received the first dose of vaccine against the deadly infection.
KANCHANPUR, May 23: Constituency-2 secretary of Nepali Congress in the district, Sudarshan Air, died of COVID-19. The 52-year old died at Seti Province Hospital, Dhangadhi while receiving treatment last night.
Air tested positive for coronavirus on May 11 was in home isolation. He was admitted to the hospital three days back after his health condition deteriorated fast.
A permanent resident of Sishaiya from Shuklaphanta Municipality-2 had been staying at Attariya of Godawari Municipality-1 along with his family.
The late Air was established as a popular leader among youths. He is lived by wife, a son and a daughter.
NC leader at Shuklaphanta, Tej Saha, informed that entire district committee of the party was saddened over the death of popular leader Air.
DHANGADHI, May 20: Chief Minister of Sudurpaschim Province Trilochan Bhatta is tested COVID-19 negative.
According to his secretariat, he was tested negative on Wednesday on the 10th day of coronavirus infection. CM’s personal secretary Prem Kunwar shared that the CM’s health is normal now.
CM Bhatta was in home isolation under the supervision of Dr Sher Bhadur Kamar, chief of COVID-19 Department of Seti Provincial Hospital.
