KATHMANDU: A recent survey by the National Statistics Office reveals a digital revolution sweeping through Nepali households, with a whopping 76% now owning smartphones.
Out of the 6.6 million families surveyed, nearly 4.9 million have embraced smartphones, marking a significant shift towards mobile technology. Additionally, internet access within homes has seen a steady rise, reaching 37.8%.
The report also sheds light on the changing landscape of communication, with traditional landline phone usage dwindling. Over the past decade, landline phone users have dropped from 7.3% to 4.5%.

KATHMANDU: Ninety-one percent of the country's population has access to internet service in the country, Nepal Telecom Authority (NTA) said in a report.
NTA has registered over 526,000 new users in the month of Chait (mid-March to mid-April) compared to the previous months, showing that 88.93 per cent population have internet access till Chait (April 15). The prepared report was based on the population projection (2011-2030) and assumes the current total population of Nepal to be 29 million 876 thousand 531.
