Weather: Light to moderate rain forecast across country

KATHMANDU, July 15: The weather would be partly to generally cloudy today due to the influence of monsoon wind. Similarly, light to moderate rainfall is likely at most of the places due to this. Meteorologist Nirajan Sapkota, said that most of the places would experience partly to fully cloudy weather on Thursday and Friday due to the impact of monsoon wind and there is possibility of light to moderate rainfall.   The monsoon would be more active from coming Sunday and heavy rainfall would take place in western part of the country and light to moderate rain in other parts, he added. Some places of Province no 1, Bagmati, Gandaki and Lumbini provinces have now been witnessing light to moderate rain.   According to the Department of Hydrology and Meteorology, the weater across the country has remained generally to fully cloudy and light to moderate rainfall has been predicted at most of the places.   There is possibility of heavy rain along with thunder at some places of Lumbini and Gandaki provinces on Friday.  As per the weather update of the Meteorological Forecasting Division, 9.5 milimetres rainfall was recorded in Kathmandu Valley today.

Impact of monsoon wind throughout country: Heavy rain forecast in some areas

KATHMANDU, July 8: Light to moderate rainfall is taking place at some places of Province no 1, Bagmati province, Gandaki province and Lumbini province due to the influence of the monsoon wind, the Department of Hydrology and Meteorology, Meteorological Forecasting Division said. The weather bulletin issued by the Division for the next three days states that the impact of the monsoon wind is seen throughout the country and it would be generally to completely cloudy in the afternoon today. There are chances of light to moderate rainfall at many places of Province no 1, Province no 2, Bagmati province, Lumbini province and Gandaki province, and at few places of Sudurpaschim province.  There are also chances of occurrence of heavy rainfall accompanied by thunder and lightning at some places of Province no 1, Province no 2, Bagmati province, Lumbini province and Gandaki province, and of very heavy rain at one or two places of the Bagmati province, Gandaki province and Lumbini province.  Heavy rain along with thunder and lightning is forecast at few places of Lumbini, Sudurpaschim and Bagmati provinces at night.  Likewise, the weather will be generally to fully cloudy throughout the country on Friday with chances of light to moderate rain at many places. There is possibility of heavy rainfall accompanied by thunder and lightning at few places of Province no 1, Bagmati province, Gandaki province and Sudurpaschim province, and of much heavy rain at one or two places of Sudurpaschim province.  Kathmandu Valley is experiencing continuous rain since last night. Kathmandu received 16 millimetres rainfall.  The Division stated in its weather update that Ghorahi received the highest rainfall of 136 millimetres followed by Taplejung with 58 millimetres, Dhankuta with 50 millimetres and Pokhara with 46 millimetres. Kathmandu Valley recorded maximum temperature 29.5 degrees Celsius and minimum 21.2 degrees Celsius in the last 24 hours.

Meteorological Forecasting Division issues alert

KATHMANDU, July 2: Most places of the country are experiencing light to moderate rainfall at present due to the active impact of the monsoon wind and the existence of the monsoon low pressure system near the Tarai region, the Department of Hydrology and Meteorology, Meteorological Forecasting Division said. The Division has called for adopting special precaution as there is possibility of heavy rainfall along with thunder and lightning at some places of Province no 1, Province no 2, Bagmati province, Lumbini province and gandaki province. It stated that there is the risk of landslide, soil erosion and mudflow in the hilly region of these provinces. The Division said the water level in the rivers, rivulets and seasonal streams might rise affecting the daily life as well as the transport services. The weather is generally to completely cloudy throughout the country at present. Many places of Province no 1, Province no 2 and gandaki province are experiencing moderate to heavy rain while some places of the rest of the provinces are getting light to moderate rain, the Division stated in its weather bulletin. It will be generally to completely cloudy throughout the country towards the afternoon with chances of light to moderate rain at many places of Province no 1, Province no 2, Bagmati province and Gandaki province, and at a few places of Lumbini province, karnali province and Sudurpaschim province. The same weather system will continue tonight as well. Continuous rainfall is taking place in Kathmandu Valley since the morning today. Maximum temperature 24.4 degrees Celsius and minimum 19.4 degrees Celsius was recorded in Kathmandu today. On Saturday, the weather will be generally to completely cloudy with chances of  light to moderate rainfall at many places of Province no 1, Province no 2, Bagmati province and Gandaki province, and at a few places of Lumbini, Karnali and Sudurpaschim provinces. Kathmandu received 40 millimetres rainfall in the last 24 hours. Biratnagar received the highest rainfall (89.9 millimetres), Simara received 62 millimetres and Bhairahawa 57 millimetres rain in the last 24 hours.

Forecast for next three days As per the Division, the weather will be generally to completely cloudy throughout the country today with the possibility of light to moderate rainfall at many places of Province no 1, Province no 2, Bagmati province, Lumbini province and Gandaki province, and at few places of Karnali and Sudurpaschim provinces.  Similarly, heavy rainfall with thunder/lightning will likely occur in some places and much heavy rainfall at few places of Province no 1, Province no 2, Bagmati province, Lumbini province and Gandaki province. The same weather system will continue tonight as well. On Friday, it will be generally to completely cloudy with chances of light to moderate rain at many places of Province 1, Province 2, Bagmati province and Gandaki province, and at a few places of Lumbini province, Karnali province and Sudurpaschim province.  On Saturday, the weather will be generally to completely cloudy with chances of  light to moderate rainfall at many places of Province1, Province 2, Bagmati province and Gandaki province, and at a few places of Lumbini, Karnali and Sudurpaschim provinces. Likewise, heavy/ much heavy rain along with thunder and lightning is likely at a few places of Province 1, Province no 2, Bagmati province, Lumbini province and Gandaki province.
