Landslips obstruct Karnali corridor

Surkhet, June 28: Landslides occurred at different locations in the Karnali corridor have disrupted vehicular movement on the highway today. At least five stretches of the highway were disrupted due to the landslides in Dailekh section. Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) of Dailekh Sunil Neupane said landslides have taken place at five sites along Paletada to Paduka river. DSP Neupane said security personnel have been mobilized to clear the obstructions.    Likewise, the Rukum section of the Mid Hill Highway was also obstructed after a landslide at Kitani of Musikot Municipality in Rukum Paschim. ...

Nepal Army hands over Khulalu-Salisalla road

SIMKOT, July 16: Nepal Army (NA) has handed over the Khulalu-Laiphu Salisalla road section of the Karnali corridor to the Hilsa-Simkot road project of the Department of Roads. Chief of NA's Karnali corridor road construction taskforce Milan Karki said that the road was handed over to the Hilsa-Simkot road project after completion adding that the task was completed though it was delayed for some time due to COVID-19 outbreak.    The ceremony was organised at Tithichaur of Bajura district.     Prior to the ceremony, NA's Karki had handed over a letter of project completion to project chief Bisundas Lama. After the ceremony, Lama said that the project would fully own the road.  Starting in 2070 BS, the NA constructed 122.75 kms road from Khulalu of Kalikot to Salisalla of Humla district. The road covers 38.4 kms length in Humla district. With this, four rural municipalities of Humla district are now connected to the road network. Tanjakot, Adanchuli, Chankheli and Sarkegad rural municipalities of the southern belt in the district got access to national road network through the Karnali corridor.
