Nepal receives over 3 million doses of Covishield, Vero Cell vaccine

A total of 3,072,387 doses of the COVID-19 vaccine has arrived in Nepal on Monday. According to Dr Surendra Chaurasia, chief of the Logistic Management Section under the Department of Health Services 1,870,500 doses of Covishield have arrived from India.

4.4 million doses of COVID-19 vaccine to arrive in Nepal from China today

KATHMANDU, September 17: The government of Nepal is procuring 4.4 million doses of Vero Cell vaccines purchased from China on Friday. A wide body aircraft of Nepal Airlines Corporation flew to China on Thursday night at 11 PM to bring the vaccine. Secretary at the Ministry of Health and Population, Dr. Roshan Pokharel shared that the purchased vaccine will be brought from China on Friday.  Of the 6 million vaccines purchased by the government from China, Nepal has already received 1.6 million vaccines. According to the General Manager of the corporation Dimprakash Poudel , the aircraft will arrive in Nepal at 2 PM on Friday with the vaccine. So far, Nepal has been able to secure 13.3 million doses of COVID-19 vaccines. The government is preparing to bring 10 million more vaccines by mid-October. (with inputs from RSS)

800,000 doses of anti Covid-19 vaccine - Vero Cell arrives

KATHMANDU, August 19: As many as 800,000 doses of anti Covid-19 vaccine - Vero Cell- has arrived in the country Wednesday evening. According to the spokesperson at the Ministry of Health and Population Dr Krishna Prasad Poudel, the vaccines were ferried from China via a wide body aircraft of Nepal Airlines. Of total 1.6 million doses of vaccines recently purchased by Nepal, 800,000 were brought in this lot while remaining 800,000 doses will be reached here this evening.    According to Spokesperson, 600,000 doses of AstraZeneca granted by Japan will also be arrived here till coming Saturday. The Ministry has notified that the anti COVID-19 vaccines would be administered to the people following priority to the targeted age groups.   So far, Nepal has received 11.6 million doses of vaccines from different countries.   Meanwhile, the government has set a goal of ensuring anti COVID-19 vaccines to targeted 33 percent people by the end of September and to targeted all by April 2022.     According to Ministry record, 4,795,902 individuals have received first dose of the vaccine while 3649,760 have received complete dose.

Second dose of Vero Cell vaccine from Aug 6

KATHMANDU, Aug 4: The second dose of  Verocell vaccine against COVID-19 is going to be administered from August 6. A meeting held under the chairmanship of Secretary of the Health and Population Ministry, Dr Roshan Pokharel, decided to give the second dose jabs from Friday. According to the Department of Health Services, the people above 55 years, who have already been vaccinated with the first dose under the vaccination programme launched from July 13, would receive the vaccine.  The second dose vaccination campaign would run till August 8. The Department urged the people to visit the vaccination stations convenient to them in Kathmandu district to receive the vaccine. A total of 42 vaccination centres have been determined for the same.    The Ministry has urged the people remaining to be vaccinated to register their names in the Ministry's website www.mohp.gov.np.   Nepal has received around 9.7 million doses of vaccine against COVID-19 so far while 2.027 million people have been fully immunized against COVID-19 while 4,254 million people have received single dose vaccine so far.

800 thousand doses of Vero Cell vaccines arrive

KATHMANDU, July 9: A consignment of the China-manufactured anti-COVID-19 vaccine, Vero Cell, has arrived in Nepal. The vaccines procured from China were brought to Nepal on a wide-body aircraft A 330 of Nepal Airlines Corporation at 6 am today. NAC, the national flag-carrier, had sent the aircraft to China on Thursday evening to bring the vaccine.  Chief expert at the Ministry of Health and Population, Dr Roshan Pokharel shared that the vaccine purchased by the government arrived here this morning. He said 800 thousand doses or 13 thousand kilogrammes vaccines arrived today in the first phase.  It has not been specified the amount of vaccines being brought to Nepal as per the non-disclosure agreement between the government and the vaccine manufacturing company. The vaccine is being brought regularly through three flights until July 23.  Dr Pokharel said the vaccines are being stored at the cold storage facility at Teku. The vaccines would be sent throughout the country.  The government has the target of administering the vaccines to 22 million population. So far the first dose vaccines have been given to 2 million 611 thousand 807 people while 933 thousand 868 people have been administered the second dose as well.

12 vaccination centres fixed for administering second dose of Vero Cell

KATHMANDU, July 6: The Kathmandu Metropolitan City has determined 12 places for administering second dose of Vero Cell vaccine. Senior citizens from 60-64 years who have already been vaccinated with its first dose will be given the second dose jabs. The second dose of Vero Cell would be given till July 8 from today.  Bir Hospital, Tribhuvan University Teaching Hospital, Civil Hospital, Shukraraj Tropical and Infectious Disease Hospital, Paropakar Maternity and Women’s Hospital, Nepal Police Hospital, Birendra Sainik Hospital,   Shankarapur Hospital, Himal Hospital, Om Hospital and Research Centre, Chhatrapati Free Clinic and Janamaitri Hospital, Balaju, have been fixed as vaccination centres.  Chief of KMC Urban Health Department, Hari Bahadur Kunwar said the senior citizens who have already been vaccinated with first dose of Vero Cell could reach the vaccination centre convenient to them and get the second dose vaccine.  They have to mandatorily bring first dose vaccination card along with them for the same. The KMC had operated vaccination programme from 32 centres during first dose vaccination programme.
