There are over 20 registered ISPs that are providing internet service in Nepal. However, there are only a few ISPs that have a wider coverage of their network and are more familiar with the people.

KATHMANDU, September 1: Nepal Telecom Authority and 257 local levels have signed memorandum of understanding with an objective of providing free internet service in the earthquake-affected eight districts for two years.
Out of 656 local levels, MoU has been signed with 257 local levels as a programme to install and operate non-dedicated broadband internet service of at least 20 MBPS at all Community Basic Schools of eight earthquake hardest hit districts and other 66 districts except Kathmandu Valley has been forwarded.
The programme has been brought to increase the capacity and install internet service at offices of all local levels, ward offices, community schools and community health institutions of eight districts mostly affected by earthquake – Kavrepalanchowk, Sindhupalchowk, Rasuwa, Nuwakot, Dolakha, Sindhuli, Ramechhap and Okhaldhunga) under the project run by mobilizing rural telecommunication development fund of the Nepal Telecom Authority.
A plan had been forwarded to provide amount equivalent to tariff of two years by installing at least 20-MBPS non-dedicated broadband internet service at around 4,251 places including all community basic schools.
SIMKOT, August 24: Service recipients of Adanchuli rural municipality have been facing problems due to the disruption of internet service for the past one week. The rural municipality lies at southern part of Humla district.
The internet service was gone here for the past one week following some problem at the tower of World Link installed at Sorukot of Soru rural municipality in neighbouring Mugu district.
Works have been hampered due to this at banks, financial institutions, health institutions, community schools, rural municipality and ward offices.
Manager of Global IME Bank, Ramesh Bahadur Rawal, said that although the ward no 1 has started providing social security allowance through the Global IME Bank, the bank has been compelled to return the beneficiaries visiting the bank for the same empty-handed.
Rawal added that though the social security allowance amount of beneficiaries has already been deposited in their bank account, they are compelled to return with empty hands.
Similarly, other customers visiting the bank for various purposes have also been facing the problem due to obstruction of internet service.
