KATHMANDU, September 3: The number of people dying due to a landslide triggered by an incessant rainfall in Parbat district has reached 10.
Due to the incessant rainfall, a house in Kusma Municipality-3 owned by Madhav Sharma collapsed and killed five people. The deceased have been identified as Kaushila Poudel, 75, Bagwati, 35, Bimala, 16, Binita, 11, and Binod Poudel, 11, according to Inspector Rajendra Adhikari, Information Office at the District Police Office, Parbat.
Likewise, Fulmaya Thapa was also killed in a landslide that occured at Ambot of Modi-5 in the same district. Similarly, Maya Kumari Poudel and her three years old son were among those killed in a landslide at Pakuwa of Kusma-11. Also, Delhi Padya Poudel, mother-in-law of Maya Kumari, is still at large.
And, a landslide that occurred at Silmi of Kusma-11 killed Durga Poudel, 38, and her son, Ganesh, 6, according to Inspector Adhikari.
KATHMANDU, September 3: Six people died and two others have gone missing in a landslide that occurred in Parbat district on Thursday night.
The landslide had occurred at Durlung of Kushma municipality and Modi rural municipality-5 following heavy rainfall.
Parbat District Administration, Nepal Army, Armed Police Force, Nepal Police and locals have been involved in search and rescue of the missing.
Meanwhile, National Assembly Chairperson Ganesh Prasad Timilsina extended tribute to those losing their lives in landslide and expressed condolences to the bereaved families, saying he was deeply saddened by this incident.
Issuing a condolence message today, Timilsina requested the three-tier of government and concerned bodies for immediate rescue, relief and rehabilitation of the victim families and other landslide affected families during this hour of crisis.
