Global food prices surge amid West Asian conflict, FAO reports

Kathmandu. Global food prices have risen, driven by the ongoing conflict in West Asia. The United Nations (UN) Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) noted this trend in a report released on Friday. The FAO Food Price Index, which tracks changes in the monthly international prices of a basket of food commodities, stood at 128.5 points in March. This represents a 2.4 percent increase compared to the previous month. The FAO stated that if the conflict persists beyond 40 days and input costs remain high, it will continue to impact food supply and prices.  ...
