Government Proposes Ban on Protests and Strikes for Civil Servants

Kathmandu. The government has proposed a provision that civil servants will not be allowed to protest and strike in the 'Bill to Amend and Consolidate Laws Relating to the Formation, Operation, and Service Conditions of the Federal Civil Service'. It is clarified in Section 83 of the bill that civil servants cannot perform any act that obstructs government work.According to Section 83 (1) of the bill, civil servants will not be allowed to protest in any form, participate in bandhs-strikes, or create confinement, obstruction, encirclement, or pressure.
