Kathmandu. Asian Football Confederation (AFC) President Sheikh Salman bin Ibrahim Al Khalifa has welcomed the decision of the International Football Federation (FIFA) to withdraw its plan to bring in private investment for its tournaments including the World Cup.He also emphasized that in the future, such important decisions related to world football should be made only after transparently consulting with all stakeholders.FIFA had proposed a plan to raise up to 4.2 billion US dollars by establishing a separate entity to operate its various tournaments including the World Cup and selling about 20 percent of its stake to private investors.The proposal, made...
