Know the status of ruling alliance in metropolis

KATHMANDU, May 17: The members of ruling alliance –Nepali Congress, CPN (Maoist Center), CPN-UML, Janata Samajbadi Party and Rastriya Janamorcha Party – had forged an electoral alliance in the recently held local level elections in 753 local units across the country. Despite the electoral alliance, the ruling alliance seems weak in two out of six metropolitan cities in the country. The candidates of the alliance are currently leading the vote count in Birgunj, Biratnagar, Lalitpur and Pokhara metropolis while Renu Dahal of CPN (MC) and CPN-UML are strongly competing in the race for the mayor of Bharatpur Metropolitan City.  Likewise, Balen Shah, an independent mayoral candidate for Kathmandu metropolis, is currently leading the vote count with a huge margin leaving Keshav Sthapit of CPN-UML and Srijana Singh of Nepali Congress far behind. Meanwhile, the ruling alliance seems strong in other metropolises so far.
