KATHMANDU, Dec 13: Nepali Congress (NC) leader Pradeep Poudel has said that construction of a corridor along the Bishnumati river would lessen traffic congestion in the ring-road area.
With each passing year, the problem of traffic congestion seems to aggravate in the Kathmandu Valley.
Against the backdrop of a rapidly increasing population, vehicle ownership in the valley has surged causing nasty jams and traffic holdups. To mitigate this issue and to divert vehicles away from the main lanes, several government agencies have been collaborating to build various corridor roads on the banks of Kathmandu’s rivers, namely Bagmati, Bishumati, Dhobikhola (Rudramati), Hanumante, Nakhkhu, Balkhu, Karmanasa, Manohara, Mahadev Khola and Tukucha (Icchhumati) rivers.
SARLAHI, Feb 10: The famous vegetable market of Lalbandi which has been extended to the East-West Highway has been blamed for increased traffic congestion and accidents on the highway. From the early morning to late evening, the highway seems full of vehicles carrying huge loads of vegetables. Unfortunately, that has increased traffic congestion on the highway.
