Over 400,000 devotees visit Pashupatinath on Maha Shivaratri as of this afternoon

KATHMANDU: The auspicious occasion of Maha Shivaratri has witnessed an overwhelming turnout of devotees at the revered Pashupatinath temple, with more than four hundred thousand pilgrims paying their respects thus far. According to Rewati Raman Adhikari, spokesperson at the Pashupati Area Development Trust (PADT), devotees began thronging to the temple premises as early as 2:00 am today, marking the onset of the day-long celebrations. The number of devotees continues to swell, indicating a significant increase in footfall compared to the morning hours. KATHMANDU, Feb 28: All sorts of preparations have been completed for the celebration of Maha Shivaratri festival at the Pashupatinath Temple, according to the Pashupati Area Development Trust. Maha Shivaratri is a Hindu festival celebrated annually in honor of the lord Shiva. This year the festival is being marked on March 1. As many as one million visitors and devotees are expected to visit the Pashupatinath Temple on the day of Shivaratri. Sadhus begin thronging Pashupatinath area

Sadhus and saints from different parts of Nepal and India have started arriving in Pashupati area for the upcoming Maha Shivaratri festival. Thousands of Sadhus from within the country and India visit the Pashupatinath Temple of Kathmandu on the occasion of Shivaratri festival. The sadhus are now found staying at the Annapurna Rest House, Ram Mandir, Gorkhanath Temple and other shelters of the Pashupati area.
