Supreme Court validates expulsion of four UML lawmakers in Karnali

KATHMANDU, Aug 2: The Supreme Court on Monday validated the decision of the main opposition CPN-UML to expel the four members of Karnali Province Assembly.  Vacating its interim order, a joint bench of Chief Justice Cholendra Shumsher JB Rana and Justice Prakash Kumar Dhungana, validated the action taken against four lawmakers ---- Prakash Jwala, Nanda Singh Budha, Kurma Raj Shahi and Ammar Bahadur Thapa.  The four members, who were elected as the province assembly members during the elections held in 2017, were relieved of their membership of the Karnali Province Assembly after they defied the party whip and voted in favor of  Chief Minister Mahendr Bahadur Shahi’s trust motion. A single bench of Justice Prakash Man Singh Raut, however, annulled the action taken by the party’s erstwhile 10th General Convention Organizing Committee.
