Yoga Guru Ramdev asked to become Nepal's tourism ambassador

KATHMANDU: The government has proposed India's Yoga Guru Ramdev to become Nepal’s tourism ambassador. Minister for Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation, Prem Bahadur Ale, on Sunday, urged the Yoga Guru to become the tourism goodwill ambassador of Nepal.  Addressing a yoga camp organized by the Ministry at the Pashupatinath area today, Minister Ale requested Yoga Guru Ramdev to be Nepal's goodwill tourism ambassador. In response, Yoga Guru Ramdev said Nepal is the unmatched tourism destination throughout the world and it was a matter of pride for him to become the tourism ambassador.  "I will formally accept the Government of Nepal's request to become a tourism ambassador at an appropriate time. It is a matter of dignity to become a goodwill ambassador," he added.   On the occasion, Minister Ale took the Yoga Guru and Acharya Balakrishna for paying homage to Pashupatinath.  Minister Ale also felicitated Yoga Guru Ramdev and Acharya Balakrishna on behalf of the Ministry.  Former Minister of State for Finance Lhyarkyal Lama, founding president of NRNA Dr Upendra Mahato, office-bearers of the Pashupati Area Development Trust, Ministry high officials and hundreds of yoga practitioners were present in the yoga camp. Immediately after the yoga camp, Yoga Guru Ramdev and Acharya Balakrishna left for New Delhi, India on a regular flight of the Nepal Airlines Corporation. They arrived in Nepal on Thursday.

KARNALI, June 21: Karnali Province Chief Govinda Prasad Kalauni has said the importance of Yoga has further enhanced in the present situation of COVID-19 pandemic.  In his message of best wishes on the occasion of the 7th International Day of Yoga, he said the routine practice of Yoga would be useful for maintaining good health and well-being.  “The investigation and practice of our forefathers have proved that the disciplined practice of Yoga is a key to maintain sound health, efficiency, mental peace, and tension free life by enhancing immunity power and positive thinking”, reads the message delivered by the Province Chief.  He further stated, “The modern health system has also accepted the importance of Yoga. Such national and international Yoga days would help remind the significance of the Yoga and promote its practice for well-being”.  Recognizing this important role of Yoga, this year’s commemoration of the International Day of Yoga focuses on “Yoga for well-being” - how the practice of Yoga can promote the holistic health of every individual.  The United Nations (UN) on 11 December 2014, proclaimed June 21 as the International Day of Yoga by its resolution.  Nepal has also been marking the National Yoga Day on Magh 1 (January 15) every year.
