KATHMANDU, April 7: The government is administering a typhoid vaccine to children aged between 15 months to 15 years for the first time from April 7 to May 8. Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba on Thursday inaugurated the campaign amid an event at Rani Pokhari-based Durbar High School. According to the government’s data, as many as 450,000 people have been found infected with typhoid in Nepal. The World Health Organization (WHO) has recommended vaccination against typhoid in Nepal and the government has begun a vaccination drive accordingly. Teku Hospital to resume COVID-19 vaccination drive from today

KATHMANDU, Jan 25: The Sukraraj Tropical and Infectious Disease Hospital at Teku, Kathmandu is resuming the vaccination campaign from today. Earlier, on Sunday, the hospital had postponed the vaccination against COVID-19 for a week after more than 50 health workers were infected with the novel coronavirus disease (COVID-19). The Director of the Hospital, Dr. Manisha Rawal informed that the vaccination drive is all set to resume at the hospital after the Health Section of Kathmandu Metropolitan City (KMC) and the Nepal Red Cross Society agreed to provide human resources for it. The vaccination drive will begin at 10:00 AM today. The hospital has been providing first, second and booster doses of COVID-19 vaccines.

COVID-19 vaccination drive halted following syringe shortage

KATHMANDU, December 28: The government has halted COVID-19 vaccination drive for children aged between 12 to 17 years old due to shortage of syringe in the country. Earlier, the government had announced to inoculate COVID-19 vaccine to children of eight districts including Kathmandu, Bhaktapur and Lalitpur from today. The vaccination drive will soon begin once the syringe shortage is resolved, according to the Health Ministry. The government has already begun administering Moderna COVID-19 vaccine to children of 57 districts a week ago.

KMC re-launches vaccination drive for people above 50

KATHMANDU, July 29: The Kathmandu Metropolitan City has re-launched the COVID-19 vaccination drive for the remaining people above 50 years of age. Under the four-day campaign that started today, vaccination centers have been managed at all 32 wards, said Hari Bahadur Kunwar, chief of the urban health department, KMC. Vaccines are administered to eligible people from 10 am to 5 pm. The beneficiaries are required to produce their national identity cards like citizenship certificate, passport or driving license. For the service or those lacking the documents, they need to get a recommendation from the respective local level. In the district, the number of those who have received the first and final doses of the vaccine has reached approximately 300 thousand, according to available data.

CM Nepali inaugurates Janssen and Janssen vaccination drive

NAWALPUR, July 20: Chief Minister of Gandaki Province, Krishna Chandra Nepali, has inaugurated the anti-COVID vaccination drive at Nawalparasi amidst a programme on Monday. The Janssen and Janssen vaccine is being administered in the province. CM Nepali inaugurated the vaccination programme at Nawalpur Health Post of Kolhuwa, Madhyabindu-2. Chief of health office in the district, Keshav Prasad Chapagain, informed that 15,000 people would be provided anti-COVID vaccines in Bardaghat-Susta East. The disaster management committee in the district would take further decision on distribution of anti-COVID vaccines, he added. It is said single dose of Janssen and Janssen vaccine would suffice while others need double doses. Inaugurating the vaccination campaign, CM Nepali said province government had prioritized the guarantee of anti-COVID vaccines in province. Health and education were of equal priorities to build prosperous Gandaki, he stressed. It is the first time CM Nepali arrived in home district after he was elected to the high post.

COVID-19 vaccination drive Kathmandu put off citing vaccine shortage

KATHMANDU, July 16: The ongoing vaccination drive in Kathmandu district has been postponed as the stock of the vaccines ran out. The drive, which kicked off on Tuesday and was scheduled to continue until Saturday, has been postponed owing to the shortage of Vero Cell vaccine, according to the District Health Office, Kathmandu. Public health administrator Badri Bahadur Khadka said that the campaign has been postponed until further notice. A ministerial level meeting decided to vaccinate all the citizens aged 55 and 55 with China-made Vero Cell vaccine across the country. Similarly, university professors, school and college teachers and staff, drivers and helpers of public vehicles, people being involved in emergency services and those going to foreign countries [where vaccine is mandatory] are scheduled to inoculated with the Vero Cell vaccine.
