KATHMANDU, Feb 10: Leader of the ruling Nepali Congress (NC), Shekhar Koirala and Chairman of CPN (Maoist Center), Pushpa Kamal Dahal, held a discussion on Thursday morning.
In the meeting, Koirala told Dahal that the coalition won’t be acceptable in the upcoming local level elections.
Nepali Congress and CPN(MC) are coalition partners in the current government led by Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba including CPN (Unified Socialist), Janata Samajbadi Party and Rastriya Janamorcha Party.
The two leaders discussed the Millennium Corporate Challenge (MCC), coalition and avoiding a parliamentary stalemate, according to Dinesh Thapaliya, personal secretary of Koirala.
During the meeting, Dahal had proposed to go to the polls as a coalition partner but Koirala refused the call.
Earlier, Koirala had held a similar discussion with Chairman of the main opposition party, CPN-UML, KP Sharma Oli.
KATHMANDU: Shekhar Koirala, one of the aspirants for the president of ruling Nepali Congress (NC), has nominated a team of contenders from his panel.
Chandra Bhandari and Dhanraj Gurung will be fielded as vice presidents from the Koirala panel.
Similarly, Gagan Thapa and Minendra Rijal are the contenders for the general secretary position.
Devraj Chalise, Kamala Panta, Jeevan Pariyar, Ram Krishna Yadav, Sheik Wakil and Tejulal Chaudhary are likely to field for joint general secretary. Likewise, Badri Bandey and Bikash Lama will engage in the race for the same positions.
