KATHMANDU, Feb 20: At the time when Nepal is doing well with COVID-19 vaccination drive, children aged between 5 to 11 years old are yet to receive their vaccine. However, the government has already announced the vaccination for this age group. According to the Ministry of Health and Population (MoHP), as many as 8.4 million doses of COVID-19 vaccines will be required to fully vaccinate this population. Similarly, of 3,405,455 children aged between 12 to 17, 88 percent of this age group have received their first dose and 65 percent have been fully vaccinated against the disease. Likewise, the Health Ministry has urged people older than 18 years who had received both doses of COVID-19 vaccine six months ago to get booster shots. So far, as many as 867,845 people have received the COVID-19 booster doses in the country. How many doses of vaccine is Nepal expecting? According to Surendra Chaurasiya, chief of the supplies management department under the department of health service, as many as 4 million doses of COVID-19 vaccine are in the pipeline with China. Likewise, 6.2 million doses of Pfizer COVID-19 vaccines are in the process of shipment by Gavi and the COVAX facility.  The government has set a target to have a fully vaccinated population older than 18 years by Mid-April, 2022.  How many vaccines do we have in storage? 75 pct of Cambodia's population inoculated against COVID-19

PHNOM PENH, Sept. 20: Cambodia has administered at least one dose of COVID-19 vaccines to 12.05 million people, or 75.3 percent of the kingdom's 16-million population, officials and experts said on Monday. Of them, 10.3 million, or 64.4 percent, have been fully vaccinated with both required shots, and 830,814, or 5.2 percent, have received a booster dose, the health ministry's secretary of state and spokeswoman Or Vandine said in a report. "As of Sept. 19, some 98.27 percent of 10 million target adults, 88 percent of nearly 2 million target adolescents aged from 12 to under 18, and 25.94 percent of almost 1.9 million target children aged from six to under 12 have taken at least one vaccine dose," she said. The Southeast Asian nation launched a COVID-19 vaccination drive in February, with China being the key vaccine supplier. Cambodian Prime Minister Samdech Techo Hun Sen has said that Chinese vaccines have helped Cambodia develop herd immunity, thus reducing infections, hospitalizations and fatalities. "If there were no vaccine supplies from China, so far, Cambodia could have vaccinated 2 million people at most," he said during a handover ceremony of the China-aided Morodok Techo National Stadium in Phnom Penh on Sept. 12. Cambodia reported 622 new COVID-19 cases on Monday, pushing the national total caseload to 104,716, the health ministry said, adding that 14 new fatalities were registered, bringing the overall death toll to 2,123. An additional 473 patients have recovered, taking the total number of recoveries to 97,700, said the health ministry.

Pokhara Metropolis gets health supplies from China

POKHARA, August 16: The Pokhara Metropolitan City has received health supplies required in the handling of COVID-19 from the Nanning city of China. The assistance is worth two million rupees.  Pokhara and Nanning have the sisterly relations.  The supplies brought in coordination of the Pokhara Tourism Council and China Overseas Association were handed to Deputy Mayor Manjudevi Gurung amidst a programme here today. On the occasion, Deputy Mayor Gurung said the Metropolis has relations with 13 international cities, and of them nine are with the cities of China.  The Pokhara Metropolis and Nanning enjoy the sisterly relations since January 10, 2918 and expressed hope the health assistance would help the local government act against the pandemic.  As she said, the local government would send a letter to the Nanning chief expressing gratitude for the assistance and the Nanning officials would be invited for the Pokhara Visit at a convenient time.    The received assistance would be distributed to hospitals on a need basis.  Council President Gopi Bahadur Bhattarai informed that the health supplies include five oxygen concentrators, 20,000 medical masks, 500 PPE sets and 50,000 pairs of medical gloves.   China Overseas Association’s Chair Chang, secretary Sangsabo (Sandesh) and Metropolis ward chairs were present on the occasion.

Over 777 mln people in China complete COVID-19 vaccination

BEIJING, August 13: More than 777 million people in China had completed COVID-19 vaccination by Thursday, a health official said Friday.      Over 1.83 billion doses of COVID-19 vaccines had been administered in China as of Thursday, said Mi Feng, spokesperson for the National Health Commission, at a press conference.

Beijing imposes new travel restrictions to prevent COVID-19 spread

BEIJING [China], August 8: The city of Beijing has rolled out a range of measures to prevent the spread of the COVID-19 pandemic by imposing restrictions on travellers from regions with relatively high virus transmission rates.  According to Chinese state media Global Times, people from medium or high-risk regions who are planning to return to Beijing will be prevented from buying tickets for air and railway services. The Beijing authorities said that health codes for people who are still in medium- and high-risk regions will be adjusted to the yellow colour, and anyone with a health code that is not green will not be allowed to board planes or trains bound for Beijing.  Presenting a green health code will be a must.  This comes as several cities in China are witnessing a surge in COVID-19 cases. The delta-driven outbreak grew to over 500 symptomatic cases scattered across 15 provinces and municipalities.  Beijing Daxing International Airport has announced the suspension of flight routes from 15 cities including hotspots of outbreaks such as Nanjing, Yangzhou and Zhangjiajie.  Wen Wu, the airport's deputy general manager said: "Beijing Daxing International Airport has suspended flight routes from 15 cities such as Nanjing, Yangzhou and Zhangjiajie, said Wen Wu, the airport's deputy GM, as part of measures to curb the epidemic flare-up." as per Global Times.  Meanwhile, The Beijing International Film Festival has been postponed due to new COVID-19 outbreaks in the country, Sputnik reported citing the event's official statement on Thursday.  "Due to the recent outbreaks of the epidemic in many areas of the country, the 11th Beijing International Film Festival, originally scheduled for August 14-21, will be postponed for general safety and health reasons," the statement said.  However, the organisers have not announced for how long the festival will be put off, reported Sputnik.
