KATHMANDU, May 18: The parliamentary hearing of 33 people recommended for appointment in various positions by the government has remained stalled owing to the second wave of the coronavirus disease. The process has also been impacted as the chairman of the Parliamentary Hearing Committee contracted the virus.
The proposed names of 11 ambassadors, 21 officials of constitutional bodies and one member of the Judicial Council were registered at the Parliament Secretariat for the parliamentary hearing.
The proposed list includes the names of members of the Judicial Council, Public Service Commission (PSC), Commission for Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA), Election Commission (EC) and other constitutional bodies. Similarly, the proposed names for the ambassadors of 11 countries were also forwarded to the Parliament Secretariat for the parliamentary hearing.
A letter was registered at the secretariat on Friday, Rojnath Pandey told Ratopati.He shared that the meeting of the Parliamentary Hearing Committee could not be held as the chairman Laxman Lal Karna is undergoing treatment for the coronavirus.
Secretary General of the Federal Parliament, Bharatraj Gautam, who is also the secretary of the hearing committee, also undergoing treatment for corona infection.
