Kathmandu, November 27 — Nepal Premier League (NPL), a franchise-based T20 cricket tournament begins in TU Cricket Ground, Kirtipur this Saturday. Heavy rainfall predicted today

KATHMANDU, June 29: Heavy rainfall is likely to take place in some parts with partial to complete changes in weather condition across the country due to the effects of monsoon winds.  According to the Department of Hydrology and Meteorology, heavy rainfall has occurred in the southern belt of Nepal towards the north from the monsoon low pressure line.  Weather conditions will however gradually improve from Friday onward, the Department informed.  The system is likely to bring light to moderate rain with thunder and lightning in most of the parts of the country. Likewise, it will trigger heavy rainfall in some parts of province-1, Madhes province, Bagmati, Gandaki and Lumbini provinces.  Heavy rainfall is predicted in some parts of Sudurpaschim province and Karnali province.  Light to moderate rainfall with thunderstorms and lightning is likely to occur across the country at night.  According to the updated information of the Weather Forecast Division, rainfall was measured at 23.8 millimeter in Kaski, 42.1 in Dhangadhi, 31.6 in Biratnagar, 3.2 in Nepalgunj, 9.8 in Simara and 4.1 in Kathmandu.

UPDATE: Death toll in recent floods, landslides climbs to 92, 42 still missing

KATHMANDU, October 21: Number of people dying due to floods and landslides triggered by unseasonal and incessant rainfall in the last few days has climbed to 92 as of Thursday. As many as 42 people are still missing, According to the Nepal Police Headquarters. As many as 53 people have died in floods and landslides in Province 1 alone and 30 in Sudurpaschim Province, according to spokesperson for Nepal Police, SSP Basanta Kuwar. Ratna Sahi, 28, was swept away by a river while crossing it at Hema Rural Municipality-6 of Humla district on Wednesday. Likewise, the dead body of Ishan Bujel, 36, was recovered from a sewer in Biratnagar Metropolitancity-12. Also, the dead body of Jhagendra Rai, 45, was recovered in Khaire Khola of Dharan Sub-metropolitan City. According to the Police Headquarters seven people in Karnali Province and one each in Bagmati and Lumbini Province succumbed to floods and landslides .
