Dhangadi/Darchula, Dec 7: India has stopped the unilateral construction of an embankment along the Mahakali River in Darchula district. Earlier, India had started building the embankment without any coordination with Nepal, in violation of international law. Tension arose after the locals protested against the construction of the embankment by India and now the Indian side has stopped the construction of the embankment.

DHANGADI, DARCHULA, Dec 7: Besides encroaching upon considerable areas in the Nepali territories of Kalapani, Limpiyadhura and Lipulekh, the Indian side has been accused of causing trouble to the people not only in the encroached land but also to those living in the border areas of Darchula district.

Resolve Embankment Issue Diplomatically

The unilateral construction of an embankment by the Indian side along the Mahakali River in Darchula district has triggered protests in Nepal after locals on both sides of the border engaged in pelting stones at each other over the issue.
