Ophthalmologist Dr Sanduk Ruit wins top civilian award of Bahrain
KATHMANDU, Jan 18: A globally recognized Nepali ophthalmologist Dr Sanduk Ruit has won the Isa Award for Service to Humanity, a top civilian award of Bahrain. The award carries a cash prize of USD 1 million, a certificate of merit and a gold medal.
Renowned Nepali Ophthalmologist Dr Sanduk Ruit today received Bahrain's top civilian award for developing highly affordable and sustainable ways to cure cataracts throughout the developing world.
Veteran ophthalmologist Dr. Sanduk Ruit, has been selected for the prestigious ISA award in recognition of his outstanding services to humanity. Instituted in 2009 in the name of the former King of Bahrain, Sheikh Isa bin Salman Al Khalifa, the award is handed every two years to an individual or organisation dedicated to the area of human welfare from across the world. The ISA Award for Service to Humanity Organisation has been presenting this award since 2013.
