Defeating Bhim Rawal, KP Oli elected UML Chairman for second stint

CHITWAN: KP Oli has been re-elected as the chairman of the main opposition CPN-UML defeating his rival Bhim Rawal by a huge margin of votes.  As many as 2,096 delegates cast their votes on the electronic voting machines earlier on Tuesday morning.  The party’s central election committee, however, is yet to officially announce the results.  With this, Oli will lead the party as the chairman for a second consecutive term. Earlier, he was elected the party chair in 2017 beating Madhav Kumar Nepal. Nepal, however, recently left the party and formed CPN (Unified Socialist).

Bhim Rawal to announce candidacy for UML Chairman

KATHMANDU:  CPN-UML Vice-Chairman Bhim Rawal is all set to announce his candidacy for the position of party chairman in the forthcoming Tenth  National General Convention.  “He [Rawal] will officially announce his candidacy amid a special press conference to be held later today [Sunday],” said Ekindra Kunwar, an aide to Rawal.  It has been learned that Rawal is contesting in the general convention by forming a panel.  The main opposition, UML is holding its Tenth General Convention in Chitwan between November 26 and 28 to elect new leadership for the next five years.

Bhim Rawal: Is government not aware about Indian choppers flying in Nepali sky?

KATHMANDU, September 3: Bhim Rawal, a leader of the main opposition party, CPN-UML, has expressed concerns over the flying of Indian choppers in Nepali sky without any permission. Taking to his twitter account, Rawal expressed a serious concern over flying of Indian choppers in Nepali sky illegally. “Is the government unaware about flying of Indian choppers without any permission in Darchula district? If the government has granted the permission, I want to know why?” reads Rawal's tweet.  Rawal also accused the coalition government of being focused only on cabinet expansion, party split and power games rather than providing security to citizens and protecting the nation.

UML’s Bhim Rawal withdraws resignation

KATHMANDU, July 23< Vice-Chairperson of the CPN-UML and a key leader of the Madhav Nepal-faction of the party, Bhim Bahadur Rawal, has withdrawn his resignation from the post of a member of the House of Representatives (HoR).  Spokesperson of the Federal Parliament Secretariat, Dr Rojnath Pandey, shared that Rawal withdrew the resignation which he had submitted to Speaker Agni Prasad Sapkota on July 18. Rawal, elected from Achham-1 representing the UML, had submitted the resignation from the HoR member following the internal dispute in the party a couple of hours before Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba tabled the confidence motion in restored parliament. He had resigned from the post, expressing the concern that the game of politics is becoming non-political and unhealthy.   Chairperson KP Sharma Oli and senior leader Madhav Kumar Nepal  urged leader Rawal to withdraw the resignation.
