KATHMANDU, September 30: The main opposition party CPN (UML) has obstructed the meeting of the House of Representatives once again. Just a moment after Speaker Agni Prasad Sapkota initiated the meeting, lawmakers of CPN (UML) began to protest and chant slogans. Amid the sloganeering UML lawmakers, Speaker Sapkota has drawn attention that the case that is sub-judice at the apex court cannot be discussed as per Article 105 of the Constitution. Earlier, CPN (UML) boycotted an all-party meeting summoned by Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba to discuss the continuous obstruction of the House session and find a solution. CPN (UML) has been obstructing the House session stating that Speaker Sapkota played a vital role in the split of the party.

KATHMANDU, September 30: An all-party meeting held on Thursday, which was boycotted by the main opposition party CPN (UML) and Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP), has concluded that CPN (UNL) is avoiding to hold discussion and meeting. Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba summoned an all-party meeting at 10 AM to discuss the continuous obstructions of CPN (UML) in the House sessions and find a solution, but the meeting was boycotted by CPN (UML) and RPP. “CPN (UML) did not attend the all-party meeting called by PM Deuba. They had also boycotted similar meetings earlier summoned by Speaker Agni Prasad Sapkota” said Gyanendra Karki, Minister for Law and spokesperson for the government after the meeting, adding that the party is avoiding discussions and talks related to house obstructions. On his part, PM Deuba expressed his belief that CPN (UML) will join similar meetings in future. “I will summon them again and they will attend,” PM Deuba said. The main opposition, CPN (UML), has been obstructing the House session since the beginning of the session as a result of tussle between Speaker Sapkota and the party regarding formation of a new political party by a splinter faction of the party-led by Madhav Kumar Nepal.

CPN (UML) Chair Oli boycotts all-party meeting summoned by PM Deuba

KATHMANDU, September 30: Chairman of CPN (UML) KP Sharma Oli boycotted an all-party meeting called by Prime Minister Deuba on Thursday morning. The meeting was summoned at the PM’s office residence at Baluwatar to discuss the continuous House obstruction by the CPN (UML) and find a solution. CPN (UML) has been maintaining that it won’t participate in any sort of meeting attended by CPN (Unified Maoist) formed by the sprinter faction of the party-led by Madhav Kumar Nepal. Earlier, CPN (UML) took action against 14 lawmakers including Nepal. These lawmakers then registered a new party named CPN (Unified Socialist). The CPN (UML) has also filed a writ petition against the EC and Speaker Agni Prasad Sapkota regarding the registration of CPN (Unified Socialist) and the case is sub-judice at the apex court.

CPN (UML) CC meeting underway

KATHMANDU, July 2: The central committee meeting of the ruling CPN (UML) is taking place at Baluwatar today.  This is the first CC meeting after the 10th general convention organizing committee got dissolved.    According to the party office secretary Sher Bahadur Tamang, however, all CC members were invited for the meeting; senior leader Jhalnath Khanal and Madhav Kumar Nepal led faction leaders are not attending the meeting today. Senior leader Khanal is undergoing treatment in India for past few weeks.  However, party vice chair Bamdev Gautam who was neutral after the intraparty dispute occurred in the UML, has attended today’s meeting.  Party chair KP Sharma Oli led meeting of the organizing committee on June 30 had decided to dissolve the organizing committee and to return the party structure back before the merger between UML and CPN (Maoist Centre).     Meanwhile, senior leader Nepal had urged chair Oli to set the meeting agenda in consensus reaching the party in the previous structure of elected by the 9th general convention of the UML.

KATHMADNNU, May 6: A Standing Committee meeting of the CPN (UML) is now taking place at the official residence of the Prime Minister at Baluwatar. CPN (UML)’s central office Secretary, Sher Bahadur Tamang, said that the meeting was called to hold discussion on various issues including Corona Virus pandemic and National Assembly candidacy.
