The Supreme Court has ruled that giving MPs direct authority to spend budget in the name of the 'MP Development Fund' (Constituency Infrastructure Development Program) is against the spirit of the constitution and the principle of separation of powers.The joint bench of Justices Sapana Pradhan Malla and Sunil Kumar Pokharel issued this verdict in response to a writ filed by Paritosh Kumar Shah and Abid Hussain against a decision by the Madhesh Province government to allow direct and proportional MPs to spend in their respective constituencies.
