Arrest of Indian Muslim journalist sparks widespread outrage
Police in New Delhi have arrested a Muslim journalist for allegedly hurting religious sentiment in what many slammed as the latest example of shrinking media freedom
NEW DELHI: India’s top court Wednesday granted bail to a Muslim journalist and ordered his release from jail, more than three weeks after he was detained for allegedly hurting religious sentiments through his tweets.
“Muslim students are still deprived of access to education due to lack of public awareness among Bengali (Maldaihiya) Muslims in the community and in absence of schools and campuses nearby,” stated journalist Alam.
