KATHMANDU, August 27: Nepal has received 130,000 doses of AstraZeneca vaccines in a grant from the United Kingdom (UK).
The consignment was handed over recently at Tribhuvan International Airport by British Ambassador to Nepal, Nicola Pollitt to Chief Specialist at the Ministry of Health and Population, Dr Dipendra Raman Singh, according to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
The Government of Nepal on its part thanked the government and people of the UK for the generous support.
In recent days, Nepal has been administering 300,000 doses of COVID-19 vaccines daily, according to the Minister of State for Health and Population, Umesh Shrestha. So far as many as 900,737 people have received COVID-19 vaccine in Nepal.

KATHMANDU, August 22: Of 1.6 million doses of AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccines pledged by the government of Japan through the COVAX facility, 208,700 doses have arrived in Kathmandu on Saturday.
A representative of the Embassy of Japan in Kathmandu handed the vaccine to representatives of the Ministry of Health and Population at a brief event at Tribhuvan International Airport.
Remaining doses are scheduled to arrive on Sunday and Monday, said the Ministry.
Earlier, in the first phase, 900,000 doses of the vaccine were brought to Nepal on August 7 and 8.
Japanese-made AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccine arrived in Kathmandu
KATHMANDU, Aug 7: The Japanese-made AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccine arrived in Kathmandu on Saturday.
Ambassador of Japan to Nepal, Kikuta Yutaka attended the hand-over ceremony at the Tribhuvan International Airport with State Minister of Health and Population Umesh Shrestha, Joint Secretary of North East Asia Division, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Lok Bahadur Thapa, Representative of UNICEF Nepal, Elke Wisch and WHO Representative to Nepal, Dr Rajesh Sambhajirao Pandav.
This vaccine donation from Japan for Nepal through the COVAX facility was announced by Motegi Toshimitsu, Minister for Foreign Affairs of Japan on 13 July. Remaining half of 1.6 million doses pledged by Japan will be shipped to Kathmandu shortly,according to the Embassy of Japan in Nepal.
Bhutan has delivered 300,000 doses of AstraZeneca Covid-19 vaccines to Nepal as a gift.
