KATHMANDU, July 2: Hearing on writ petitions registered against the dissolution of the House of Representatives (HoR) is being held on Friday as well.
A total of 13 legal practitioners are schedule to debate on behalf of Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli in the remaining one and a half hours. The defendants have been alloted a total of 15 hours to defend May 22’s House dissolution move.
Senior advocates Ramesh Guragain, Bishnumani Adhikari and advocate Ishwari Prasad Bhattarai will present their arguments in favor of the dissolution for 10 minutes each.
Baburam Dahal, PM Oli’s legal expert, will have seven minutes to defend the move. Similarly, Bhojraj Acharya, CP Regmi, Bal Bahadur Rai, Rudra Prasad Pokharel, Shanti Devi Khanal, Bishnu Maya Bhusal, Dharmaraj Regmi, Ananta Luitel and Loknath Kharel will also get seven minutes each.
Once the pleading by PM Oli’s legal practitioners is over, lawyers representing Speaker Agni Prasad Baskota will debate in the allotted one and a half hours.
KATHMANDU, April 17: Chairman of CPN (Maoist Center), Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ has boycotted the all-party meeting called by Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli.
Oli called the all-party meeting at his official residence in Baluwatar at 11 AM on Saturday where top leaders of the political parties, that represent in the federal parliament, were invited.
Bishnu Sapkota, Prachanda’s press aide, told Ratopati that the latter would not attend today’s all-party meeting.
It is said that Maoist Chairman will join the meeting only if it is held at the Singha Durbar, where lies the Office of the Prime Minister.
PM Oli isexpected to receive suggestions from the parties amid the onset of the second wave of the novel coronavirus disease (COVID-19).
The Nepal Communist Party (NCP) faction led by Pushpa Kamal Dahal and Madhav Kumar Nepal on Thursday wrote a letter to secretary general of Parliament urging him not to recognise Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli as the parliamentary party leader of the ruling party.
