KATHMANDU, April 15: Chairman of the Communist Party of Nepal (Maoist Center), Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ has said that their party will make another comeback in the days ahead.
During a video interview with Ratopati on Wednesday, Prachanda claimed that there is still the relevancy of Maoist movement in the country to safeguard the hard-gained achievements and defeat the regression prevailing of late.
Prachanda’s statement comes at a time when the Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli, who is also the Chairman of ruling Communist Party of Nepal- Unified Marxist and Leninist (CPN-UML), has been claiming that the Maoist party will suffer a massive defeat and Prachanda will not emerge victorious in the next general election.
Talking about the intraparty rift in the CPN-UML, Prachanda also wished that the latter would stay intact though there are slim chances for it. “Let the UML take the right path, let it be guided by the principle of unity that we had earlier endorsed during our merger with UML.”
On the occasion, he wished that the leaders close to a faction led by Madhav Kumar Nepal, a senior leader of the CPN-UML, would succeed in bringing their party on track, which would help two parties -- UML and Maoist--- to forge another campaign of unification among the communist forces.
“Unfortunately, the scenario suggests that the UML is less likely to remain intact,” said he, adding that it [UML] will not suffer any split only if the ideology adopted by leader Nepal and his faction emerges dominant in the party. “The working style of KP Oli hardly steers to party unification.”
Prachanda shared that he has a plan to visit all 77 districts across the country and get connected with the party cadres and general people. “This will help me interact with people and know their wishes, aspirations and necessities.”
