Motorboat in Narayani makes travel to Susta easier

With a steamer coming into operation in the mighty Narayani River, travel to Susta, a village across the waterway, has now become easy. Earlier, people in the locality marred by land encroachment by India were forced to cross the wide and risky current of the river using a normal wooden boat. Susta is surrounded by the Narayani River from three sides and India at one side. People in the village have to either cross the river, also known as Gandak in India, to reach the main land in Nepal or use the Indian road for the travel.

Daunne bus accident: four dead, 49 injured

PARASI, May 19: At least four people died when a passenger-ferrying bus met with an accident in Nawalparasi (Bardaghat-Susta West) this morning. The accident took place nearby Khursani Khola in Bardaghat-4 along the East-West Highway at around 6.00 am today.  According to the District Traffic Police Office, the bus fell down some 200 meters off the road. The Rukum-West bound bus (Na 5 Kha 2713) from Kathmandu Machhapokhari met with the accident, informed Traffic Police Office chief Police Inspector Basudev Nepal.  Among the deceased identified are Kalpana Pun, 27, of Triveni rural municipality-6 and Dhanaraj Gharty of Sisne rural municipality of Rukum-West.  The bus was carrying a total of 58 passengers and 49 of them were injured in the incident. The injured were rescued from the spot and were taken to local Chisapani Hospital and Sanjeevanii Hospital, shared spokesperson of District Police Office DSP Raju Lama. Other five passengers are in good condition, police said.

Locals urge government to include Susta area in new map
