Odd-even system not effective for all vehicles: DAO Kathmandu

The District Administration Office (DAO), Kathmandu has clarified that the odd-even number system put in place for both private and public vehicles in Kathmandu Valley would not be effective for all vehicles.

Kathmandu administration restricts physical classes in schools (with order)

KATHMANDU: Local administration in Kathmandu district has restricted the physical classes in the schools in Kathmandu district.  Issuing a prohibitory order on Thursday, the District Administration (DAO), Kathmandu said that the local levels (metropolitan city and municipalities) should first analyze the situation of COVID-19 at the local level before taking any decision to run physical classes in education institutions (schools).  The district administration also stated that teaching and non-teaching staff of the schools and members of school management committees should also be vaccinated for the operation of physical classes.  The order will come into force from Friday.  Similarly, the local levels should formulate a guideline for the operation of schools physically after consulting guardians and concerned stakeholders.  Though other sectors are allowed to operate their businesses and activities as usual, schools are yet to operate with physical presence of teachers and students.  See the order:

China-made vaccine inoculation to resume resume May 16

KATHMANDU, May 12: Vaccination drive against the coronavirus disease, which was put off citing large crowds at the vaccine centers, is all set to resume effective from May 16.  The District Administration Office (DAO), Kathmandu asked the authorities concerned to make necessary preparations for the second phase of drive to adminster China-made Vero Cell vaccine against the infectious disease in in Kathmandu district. With this, those waiting for a second dose of the vaccine will be inoculated against the virus.  The drive will be carried out through the Kathmandu District Health Office according to a decision made by the MInistry of Health and Population (MoHO), on May 5. The drive was earlier postponed by the ministry citing overcrowding at the vaccination centers. District Health Office, Kathmandu had earlier directed all ward offices to set a stipulated time frame for a week and distribute coupons to avoid crowds at vaccination centers.  The campaign will be carried out in various vaccination centers of Kathmandu Metropolitan City and other municipalities including Kirtipur, Nagarjun, Chandragiri, Tarakeshwor, Budhanilkantha, Tokha, Shankharapur and Kageshowri.  The vaccines will be administered to the people between 18 and 59 years of age. Nepal had received 800,000 doses of COVID-19 vaccines from China as a grant .
