Power supply in Mudi

MYAGDI, June 27: Power from the central grid has been supplied to Mudi in Dhaulagiri rural municipality-4 of Myagdi. The power supply reached Mudi on Saturday evening at the initiative of the Nepal Electricity Authority, Myagdi distribution centre. As a result, 250 households in Mudi are now enjoying regular power supply. Earlier, the locals here were dependent on solar and traditional oil-fed lamps for lighting during the dark. This has brought smiles to the people, with household work becoming easier and students having more time for studies, said local resident Ganesh Pun. Along with Mudi, Faligaon, Muna, Dara and Mangala of the rural municipality will also see electrification taking place during the current fiscal year, said NEA Myagdi chief Prasant Jha.

Power supply to under-construction international cricket stadium disconnected

KATHMANDU: The power supply to the Gautam Buddha International Cricket Stadium has been cut after it failed to pay electricity tariff dues.  The construction works of the stadium have been stagnated for the past five months. Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA) Bharatpur Transmission Centre on Wednesday disrupted power supply to the stadium for not paying bills.  According to Engineer at Transmission Centre, Rajendra Poudel, the tariff dues have reached Rs 887,000.  The Dhurmus Suntali Foundation that spearheaded the cricket stadium construction works had walked away from its responsibility after facing a financial crisis.  The Foundation has urged Bharatpur Metropolis to take ownership of the stadium saying the Foundation has yet to clear off the dues over Rs 170 million.  The NEA has also cut off the power supply to Mount Everest Brewery as it has yet to pay electricity tariff dues over Rs 3.74 million. Along with this, the NEA has cut off the line of 12 small firms and organizations for no regular payment of tariff.

Power supply in Nawalparasi disrupted due to rainfall, inundation

NAWALPARASI, Aug 28: Power supply has been disrupted here as substations under the Nepal Electricity Authority Distribution Centre, Parasi, got damaged due to incessant rainfall and inundation for the past few days. Chief of NEA Distribution Centre, Parasi, Chutun Kumar Shreevastav, said the power supply was disrupted as the breaker and other equipment of the sub-station were filled with water after rain and subsequent inundation, adding that there was no situation to resume power supply immediately.  He further said though power supply from NEA Parasi sub-stations has been obstructed, it has been managed through NEA Distribution Centre, Parasi, from Gandak Power House, Bardaghat and sub-stations of Sunawal bazaar area, for the time being. The devices used in power supply though sub-stations are found dysfunctional and partly damaged due to inundation.  As informed, it will take a few days to operate the centre and resume the power supply from there.  Office Chief Shreevastav shared that they were managing technical human resources to bring back the services which will take some more days.  The center is distributing power to 44,000 consumers.   For the time being, 35, 000 of them are supplied with the power from Gandak Power House, Bardaghat and Sunwal Bazaar based substations.   Shreevastav further shared that electricity supply is being arranged for the low consumptive households and industries from other alternative sources of energy while high consumptive industries receiving power from 11,000 KV transformers are urged to wait for some time.
