Rajesh Man Singh, who assumed office as the mayor of Birgunj Metropolitan City on Thursday, has begun work on repairing the dilapidated road of the Ghantaghar area of the city. On his first day in office, Singh said that the metro would repair the decrepit Ghantaghar road. He also declared that the residents of the city using household electric meters would no longer have to pay the monthly minimum charge and energy fees charged by the Nepal Electricity Authority for up to 30 units of electricity.

KATHMANDU, April 25: The ruling alliance has finalized its candidates for the post of mayor in all the six metropolises across the country.
The members of the ruling alliance – Nepali Congress (NC), CPN (Maoist Center), CPN (Unified Socialist), Janata Samajbadi Party (JSP) and Rastriya Janamorcha Party– have forged an electoral alliance for the upcoming local level polls.
