KATHMANDU, Jan 24: Nepal has imported onions worth Rs 2 billion from India in the first six months of the current fiscal year.
As many as 80,282,000 kilograms (kgs) of onions were imported from India in the first six months of the current fiscal year, according to the department of customs.
The department also collected a revenue of Rs 266,200,000 from the import of onions.
Nepal has the highest trade deficit with India. The country imports food essentials like onion, ginger, potatoes tomatoes, etc, worth billions of rupees from India every year.
