Identity card mandatory to travel to India by train

KATHMANDU, April 1: Once the Janakpur-Jaynagar Rail Service is inaugurated on Saturday, it will be mandatory for travelers to have an identity card with them in order to travel to India by train.  Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba is visiting India on Friday. During his three day visit to India, PM Deuba and his Indian counterpart Narendra Modi are scheduled to inaugurate the Railway Service via virtual medium on Saturday. Once the railway comes under operation, those Nepali nationals traveling India by train are required to carry their identity card with them – Citizenship or Passport or Voter ID, according to Niranjan Jha, General Manager of Nepal Railway Company. Besides, in case of emergency entry, a recommendation letter or certificate with photo issued by the Consulate General has been made mandatory. Similarly, those children aged between 10 to 18 are required to carry their school identity card for the same.
