Papillomavirus vaccination begins from seven hospitals

The government started a free Human papillomavirus (HPV) vaccination campaign across the country to prevent cervical cancer in women on Wednesday. Minister for Health and Population Mohan Bahadur Basnet initiated the campaign in an official programme at Thapathali-based Paropakar Maternity and Women's Hospital (PMWH). Minister Basnet inaugurated the campaign by handing over a vaccine carrier to PMWH Director Dr. Shree Prasad Adhikari. A 14-year-old girl of Dhumbarahi, Kathmandu, was then administered the first HPV vaccination of the nation-wide campaign during the programme. According to the Ministry of Health and Population (MoHP), HPV vaccines will be provided from seven hospitals in seven provinces. With the PMWH for Bagmati Province, Biratnagar's Koshi Hospital in Koshi, Birgunj's Narayani Hospital in Madhes, Pokhara-based Gandaki Academy of Health Sciences in Gandaki, Nepalgunj-based Bheri Hospital in Lumbini, Birendranagar-based Provincial Hospital in Karnali and Amargadhi-based Dadeldhura Hospital in Sudurpashchim are providing the vaccines.

Lumbini Province to provide cash support to kidney, cancer, heart patients

RUPANDEHI, August 13: The first cabinet meeting of the newly-formed Lumibini Province Government has decided to provide Rs 200,000 to kidney, cancer and heart patients.    Prior to this, such patients were receiving Rs 100,000 from the Province Government. Likewise, the council of ministers of the Lubmini Province decided to manage COVID-19 hotline to rescue the COVID-19 patients and ambulance. The total cost of the management for such responsibilities would be covered by the Province Government. The cabinet meeting also decided to ensure antigen test by running health camp in the areas severely affected from coronavirus infection and make the treatment, rescue and vaccination system more effective.  As decided, Economic Affairs and Planning Minister Krishna Dhowj Khadka was named as the spokesperson of the Province Government while Amar Bahadur Dangi was appointed the chief advisor of Chief Minister Kul Bahadur KC.

Senior citizens get booster dose of COVID vaccine

The second dose of vaccine for citizens aged above 65 years with AstraZeneca vaccine has started from Monday. According to the Ministry of Health and Population (MoHP), initially the campaign will be conducted at vaccination sites in Bagmati, Gandaki, Lumbini, Karnali and Sudurpaschim Provinces followed by Provinces 1 and 2. The MoHP has requested all to follow the health safety standards at the vaccination sites.

Provinces No. 1 and 2 will be conducting 2nd phase of vaccination

According to the Ministry of Health and Population, the first phase of the campaign has been conducted in vaccination centers in Bagmati, Gandaki, Lumbini, Karnali, and far-western districts.
