KATHMANDU, Sep 13: The final hearing of the rape case against cricketer Sandeep Lamichhane will be done on September 18. The case has been scheduled for a hearing on September 18 after the papers from the place where the victim migrated arrived.

KATHMANDU, May 30: The hearing in the rape case against cricketer Sandeep Lamichhane is going to be held today. Earlier, the bench of Justice Fanindra Parajuli had ordered to resubmit the evidence related to the date of birth submitted in the dispute about the age of the victim.
KATHMANDU, Nov 3: The hearing of the rape case filed against crickter Sandeep Lamichhane, that kicked off from Wednesday, is to continue on Thursday as well.
A case has been filed against Lamichhane demanding a 12 years sentence.
It has been learnt that Lamichhane’s advocates have presented school documents that maintain that the ‘victim’ is not a minor.
Earlier, the District Court of Kathmandu recorded the statement of Lamichhane following which the trial began.
The police had begun investigation after a 17 year old girl filed a rape compliant against Lamichhane.
Lamichhane has been accused of raping the minor multiple times at 11:55 PM on August 21 at the airport-based Kathmandu Inn Hotel.
As per the section 219 (1) of the National Penal (Code) Act, 2017, where a man has sexual intercourse with a woman without her consent or with a girl child below eighteen years of age even with her consent, the man shall be considered to commit rape on such woman or girl child.
If found guilty, Lamichhane could be imprisoned for a term of ten to twelve years, the girl being above sixteen years of age but below eighteen years of age, as per the the section 219 (4) of the National Penal (Code) Act, 2017. Besides, the could can also slap a fine of Rs 500,000.
