NC District Convention: Know new presidents in Sindhupalchowk, Bara, Sarlahi

KATHMANDU, March 14: Junga Bahadur Lama has been elected in the post of the district President of Nepali Congress, Sindhupalchowk.  He garnered 912 votes to emerge victorious to the post.  His close contender Bamshalal Tamang got 848 votes. According to the Election Committee, the second round election was held on Sunday. A total of 1783 votes were cast in the second round election. Yadav elected NC Bara President Rajesh Roy Yadav has been elected as the President of Nepali Congress, Bara. He got elected to the post with 1,206 votes.  His close contender Shambu Bahadur Budhathoki received 1,155 votes.  Chief Election Commissioner Gangeshwar Prasad Adhikari informed that 29 votes were invalid in the election.  Newly-elected President Yadav pledged to move ahead with unison in the party. "We have no option but to work together to make the NC victorious in the local level election". Singh elected NC Sarlahi President Surendra Prasad Singh has emerged victorious for the post of President of Nepali Congress (NC), Sarlahi. He obtained 1,758 votes while his arch-rival Laxman Roy got 1,378 votes.  District Election Officer Nageswor Prasad Singh had announced names of other elected office-bearers on the occasion.  In the election held under the 14th district convention, the vice-presidents elected were Nabin Adhikari, Dr Saroj Kumar and Sheikh Sadullahal. Among others elected are Niraj Karki (secretary) and Indra Bahadur Yonjan and Sunil Kumar Kusawaha (joint-secretary).

NC to conduct convention in 16 districts on Jan 11

KATHMANDU, December 28: The ruling Nepali Congress (NC) has decided to hold the party conventions in the remaining 16 districts on January 11. The meeting of the central election committee of the NC took the decision that the 16 districts which failed to hold the conventions in time would now hold the district convention on January 11. Earlier, during the party’s 14th General Election, conventions were held in 61 districts only. The districts waiting for the convention as part of the 14th general convention of the party are Saptari, Siraha, Dhanusha, Mahottari, Sarlahi, Rautahat, Bara, Parsa, Sindhuli, Makwanpur, Sindhupalchowk, Chitwan, Banke, Kailali, Accham and Nawalpur. The NC has already conducted the provincial conventions and the central general convention.

NC finalizes active members of 75 districts

KATHMANDU, July 17: Nepali Congress (NC) said that it has come to a final stage to sort out the issue of active members for the upcoming 14th general convention.  The active membership probe committee, at Friday's meeting of the office-bearers and former office-bearers of the party, shared that the task relating to active membership of all districts excluding Bara and Saptari has been completed.  On the occasion, committee coordinator Ramesh Lekhak said the tasks related to active membership of other 75 districts have been completed and also added that a report with all details will be submitted to party President Sher Bahadur Deuba soon.  The meeting also designated party joint general secretary Dr Prakash Sharan Mahat and central committee member Dr Minendra Rijal to facilitate resolving the issues if any in the election direction.  Though there are still some disputes on the active membership it will not affect the schedule of the general convention date. NC office chief-secretary Krishna Poudel quoted Prime Minister and party President Sher Bahadur Deuba saying that they could not defer the scheduled general convention even by a day.  NC has scheduled its 14th general convention in Kathmandu on September 1-4.
