Caretaker PM Oli forms full-fledged Cabinet

KATHMANDU, June 10: Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli, who has been serving as the caretaker prime minister after the House dissolution, has expanded his Cabinet.  In his recent expansion on Thursday, PM Oli has kept the portfolio of the Defence Ministry with himself.  Releasing a statement earlier today, the Office of President shared that PM Oli formed a 25-member Cabinet. He made several reshuffles on June 4 as he inducted 10 ministers from the Mahantha Thakur-faction of the Janata Samajbadi Party (JSP).  Khagraj Adhikari has been appointed as the Minister for Home Affairs while JSP’s Raj Kishor Yadav will serve as the Minister for Industry Commerce and Supply. Similarly, Nainkala Thapa, spouse of former Home Minister Ram Bahadur Thapa ‘Badal’ has been appointed as the Minister for Communication and Information Technology.  Jwala Kumari Sah, Narad Muni Rana, Ganesh Pahdai, Mohan Baniya and Asha Kumari BK are among those inducted in the Cabinet on Thursday. PM Oli expanding Cabinet today

KATHMANDU, June 10: Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli is expanding the Council of Ministers on Thursday. According to Bishnu Rijal, a leader of the ruling CPN-UML, PM Oli is preparing to induct seven ministers and a minister of state at 4 PM today.  Oli is appointing  new ministers for seven ministries. He had made several changes in his Cabinet on June 4. A writ petititon has been registered at the Supreme Court seeking nullification of the latest reshuffle. The Supreme Court, on June 8 refused to issue an interim order on the writ petitions filed against the regic of the Council of the Ministers.  A single bench of Justice Ishwar Prasad Khatiwada issued a show-cause order in the name of the defendant. Hearing the writ petitions, the bench ordered both the sides to be present before the court on June 22.

PM Oli to address nation  today

KATHMANDU, May 28: Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli is  addressing the nation on Friday afternoon.  According to PM Oli’s press advisor Surya Thapa, the prime minister is scheduled to address the nation from the Office of Prime Minister and Council of Ministers, Singha Durbar at 4:00 PM later today.

PM Oli says government effortful to save lives of people in pandemic

KATHMANDU, May 27: Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has said that the government was effortful to protect the lives of the people in this critical hour caused by COVID-19 outbreak. While addressing the 22nd establishment day of the National Human Rights Council, virtually, PM Oli argued that the government was continuously effortful to control the pandemic and save the people.  He added that the government’s efforts alone made it possible to vaccinate the people despite the fact that Nepal has not produced vaccines of COVID-19.  He said because of its respect to human lives, the government has brought life-saving gas oxygen from China paying high price, adding that the gas cylinder of Rs 300/400 has cost Rs 50,000 per cylinder while bringing it from China.   He added that the government was always alert to create free and fearless environment to NHRC in the areas of safeguarding the human rights. He said that the government was respecting the NHRC recommendations and they were implemented.  PM Oli said the government was paying attention to control the organized crimes and ensure social justice and a dignified life to the citizens.   On the occasion, the NHRC chair Tapa Bahadur Magar opined that the government should effectively implement the NHRC report.

PM Oli calls Cabinet meeting

KATHMANDU, May 10: Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has called a meeting of Council of Ministers for 5 PM on Monday.  According to a minister, the agenda of the meeting, however, has not been disclosed yet.  The meeting has been taken with much interest as PM Oli is seeking a vote of confidence from parliament’s special session on Monday itself.

PM Oli calls for reconciliation

KATHMANDU, May 10: CPN (UML) Chair and Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has again urged the lawmakers on behalf the party to vote in favour of the Prime Minister in the vote of  confidence to be held in the House of Representatives (HoR) today.  The lower house of the federal parliament is sitting for a special session at 1pm today for the purpose of the vote of confidence PM Oli has sought. The CPN (UML) Chair and Prime Minister has, in his twitter post this morning, drawn the attention of all the parliamentarians that internal disagreements or dissatisfactions, if any, could be resolved through mutual discussions and that it would not be appropriate to go for any improper decision in a hurry in such a situation.  "Come, let's sit together and discuss if there are any problems, and resolve them," PM Oli has tweeted.

PM Oli calls ‘emergency’ Cabinet meeting today

Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has called an ‘emergency’ Cabinet meeting for 5 PM on Saturday.  “Agenda of the meeting, however, has not been informed,” a minister told Ratopati.  Today’s meeting is taken with much interest as PM Oli is taking a vote of confidence on May 10.  Prime Minister Oli has also called a meeting of the Constitutional Council for Sunday. Speaker Agni Prasad Sapkota and President of main opposition  Nepali Congress (NC), Sher Bahadur Deuba, however, are said to skip tomorrow’s meeting.
