MUGU, Oct 13: The passenger bus (Bhe 1 Kha 3167) belonging to the Chhayanath Rara Transport Pvt Ltd which was coming towards Mugu from Nepalgunj met the accident on Tuesday due to the puncturing of its tyre.
MUGU: At least 32 people have died in in Mugu bus accident. Province Police Office, Surkhet shared that 24 passengers died on the spot, four died in the course of rescue at Talcha airport, and remaining four during treatment at Nepalgunj.
Those killed in the accident include 22 males and 10 females.
A passenger bus (Bhe 1 Kha 3167) bound to Gamgadhi, district headquarters of Mugu, from Nepalgunj met with an accident at Chhayanath Rara Municipality-7 on Tuesday.
The preliminary investigation by police showed that the accident occurred after a front tyre punctured. The bus had slid some 300 meters down the road. There were 45 passengers in the bus when it left Nepalgunj on Monday.
The injured were taken to Nepalgunj via Nepal Army helicopter and the helicopter belonging to Summit Air. They have been receiving treatment at Kohalpur and Nepalgunj. Similarly, a six-year-old girl with minor injury is receiving treatment at Mugu Hospital.
Most of those losing lives in the accident are from Gamgadhi and Chhayanath Rara Municipality.
Chief District Officer Rom Bahadur Mahat and security chiefs in the district had taken initiative for rescue immediately after the accident.
Chief of Province Police and Deputy Inspector General of Police, Ganesh Bahadur Air informed that those rescued from the incident were sent to treatment immediately. Thirteen passengers are getting treatment now, according to him.
