Truck falls in Saptakoshi

BIRATNAGAR, July 14: A truck has plunged into the Saptakoshi River. A truck collided with a bus on the Koshi barrage bridge on the border of Sunsari and Saptari and fell into the river this morning. The truck that fell into the river has disappeared. Police have rescued three people that were in the truck.

Six attempting suicide in Saptakoshi River rescued in past two months

SUNSARI, August 20: The District Police Office, Sunsari has rescued six people attempting suicide by jumping into the Saptakoshi River in last two months. “These people had jumped into the River and we rescued them,”said DSP Narendra Kumar Karki. Those attempting suicide were 78 years old man from Gadi of Sunsari, 55 and 35 years old women from Biratnagar, 25 years old youth from India, 65 years old woman from Itahari and 40 years old woman from Kavrepalanchowk, according to DSP Karki.

Deputy Mayor of Saptakoshi Municipality dies of Covid-19

RAJBIRAJ, May 18: Deputy Mayor of Saptakoshi Municipality Asha Chaudhary succumbed to coronavirus infection this morning. Deputy Mayor Chaudhary died at Birat Nursing Home in Biratnagar, according to Uttam Acharya, a resident of Kanchanrup Municipality.  She was admitted to a local health post after suffering from fever, flu and breathing problems some two weeks ago.    Chief of District Health Office Duniyalal Yadav said that the Deputy Mayor was tested positive to coronavirus during an antigen test. After getting infected, she was kept in ICU bed for 10 days and three days in ventilator. Deputy Mayor Chaudhary was also pregnant and the dead baby was removed from her womb just three days ago.  Deputy Mayor Chaudhary is survived by her husband and a seven-year-old son.   With this, the Covid-19 death toll in Saptakoshi reached three, the District Health Office said.
