KATHMANDU, October 23: Chief Minister of Province 1 Bhim Acharya is scheduled to take a vote of confidence on Sunday.
Earlier on Friday, CM Acharya presented a proposal for floor test in the provincial assembly meeting. A meeting of the provincial assembly has been summoned at 12:30 pm today.
Acharya, who was appointed CM of Province 1 representing CPN (UML) has lost his majority in the provincial assembly after the split of the party.
Acharya is likely to lose the vote of confidence on Sunday as the opposition alliance holds strong ground in the province.
CM Acharya must garner 47 votes in his favor to remain in his position. Apparently, CM Acharya has support of 39 lawmakers while the opposition alliance has begun preparations for formation of a new government with support of 50 lawmakers.
