KATHMANDU, Aug 28: The National Inclusion Commission (NIC) has urged the Ministry of Health and Population (MoHP) not to make or let the health workers to work more than eight hours a day.
The commission’s request came at the time after the reports of health institutions making the health workers work more than eight hours a day made it to the public domain.
A recent study has shown that some health institutions are assigning additional work of 24 to 36 hours and it has drawn the attention of the commission. As per the law, no health institution can assign additional tasks to health workers exceeding more than four hours a day and 24 hours a week. If they are assigned for such tasks they have to be paid accordingly.
